The official said Washington must formally commit to diplomacy and agree on a timeline. Iran’s delegation in New York reportedly has full authority to revive talks, while Tehran’s proposal to end hostilities was delivered to the U.S. through mediators on September 16.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington is open to talks at the UN General Assembly, although no meeting has been scheduled. Iran’s semi-official Fars News later denied the Reuters report, leaving Tehran’s position unclear. No agreement has been announced.
